Icarus by Chris White

Icarus flew through the air
He knew the danger but he didn't care
He flew so high, tried to reach the sun
And he said, Look at me, everyone

His father warned him that the wings were weak
Said, Stay beside me, now, hear the words I speak
But the boy flew higher, 'cause he had to know
If the sun was burning brighter than his soul

Wings will you take me higher than my dreams?
Wings will you take me
And teach me if the sun is just as loving as it seems?

Icarus soared higher and higher
But the sun was blazing and the wings caught fire
His father watched helplessly
As Icarus fell in flames into the sea

Wings will you take me higher than my dreams?
Wings will you take me
And teach me if the sun is just as loving as it seems?

Last night while riding in my father's car
I looked to the heavens saw a falling star
The flame was beautiful lighting up the sky
Icarus lives on in my heart, he'll never die
Icarus lives on in my heart, he'll never die
