My Reality

Elusive reality, you are my own,
I touch you but somehow cannot grasp.
You glow, but into flame you cannot kindle
For you would be fire and have a name, so,
Nameless you must remain, and just a glow.

My brothers, sisters, things of nature,
Your reality with mine I try to sense,
And what I find embedded in you I capture,
With only your surface as my guide.

I breathe you, my reality, but who can describe a breath?
Where does breath begin and where does it end?
Somewhere, in the depth of my life-force, dear reality, you reside,
But where is that place, and how do I embrace you, my friend?

My reality, in consciousness you do not live,
For to all my thoughts I can give a name,
In my unconscious, neither do you take abode,
For words can I find to describe the memories disentangled from this web.

In some place in me is a deeper awareness of you, my reality,
I am alone in search of this awareness that will light your flame,
And, in some space I cannot comprehend I hope also to find,
A cosmic reality, where all of our lone realities are entwined
